Matt Callahan is an award-winning actor and playwright based in Los Angeles, California.
​
He made his professional stage debut in 1995's The Trip to Bountiful with the now defunct Centerpointe Theatre Group in San Luis Obispo, CA.
​
Los Angeles theatre credits include A Fine Mess (Company of Angels), Frankenstein (Shakespeare Center Los Angeles), We Are Proud to Present...(2 Rhythms Theatre Co.), The Hour of All Things (Son of Semele), Dirty Laundry (Teatro Frida Kahlo), Doll's House (Company of Angels), The Lion in Winter (Eastside Theatre Works), The Taming of the Shrew (ETW), A Midsummer Night's Dream (ETW), Doctor Faustus (Independent Shakespeare Co.), By the Bog of Cats (Theatre Banshee!), Merry Wives of Windsor (ISC), and many others.

Film and television credits include Expedition Files, Cyberbully City, Tales from the Explorers Club, Malleable, Murder in the Heartland, Mirror, William Shatner's The UnXplained, The Brothers Grimsby, among other roles.

Playwriting credits include Poser, Old English Dead, Guttersnipes, Everybody Haunts Raymond, See You at the Storm Drain, Don Juan and Solidarity is a Four Letter Word.

Callahan is Artistic Director and Playwright-in-Residence at the Diagnostic Theatre Company.

In October 2021 Callahan won the award for Best Actor in a Dramatic Short at the Austin International Film Festival for his performance in director James Mello's Mirror.
In February 2022 he was a part of an NAACP Theatre Award winning ensemble in 2 Rhythm's Theatre Company's 2021 production of Jackie Sibblies-Drury's We Are Proud to Present... directed by Jozben Barrett.
